캐나다 통계청이 실시한 2016년 인구총조사에서 인구조사 분과로 보면 스모키레이크 카운티는 전체 민간주택 2,248채 중 1,556채에 거주하는 인구 4,107명을 기록해 2011년 인구 3,910채에 비해 5%의 변화를 보였다.[2] 스모키 레이크 카운티에서 독립한 자치단체인 인구조사 분과 내에 위치한 [7]버팔로 호수(712), 키키노(934) 등 메티스 정착촌 2곳의 인구가 여기에 해당한다.[3] 국토면적이 3,412.92km2(1,317.74평방mi)인 인구분할은 2016년 인구밀도가2 1.2km(3.1평방mi)에 달했다.[2] 두 개의 메티스 정착지를 제외한 스모키 레이크 카운티의 2016년 인구는 2461명으로 2011년 인구 2459명보다 0.1%가 변화했다.[2][8]

스모키 레이크 카운티는 2011년 인구조사에서 인구조사 분과로 전체 주택 1,920채 중 1,481채에 3,910명의 인구가 거주하고 있어 2006년 인구 3,357채에 비해 16.5%의 변화가 있었다. 여기에는 스모키 레이크 카운티에서 독립한 자치단체인 인구조사 분과 [9]내에 위치한 버팔로 호수(492), 키키노(959) 등 메티스 정착촌 2곳의 인구가 포함된다.[3] 국토면적이 3,412.81km2(1,317.69평방mi)인 인구분할은 2011년 1.1/km(32.0/sqmi)의 인구밀도를 보였다.[10] 2011년 인구조사에서 스모키 레이크 카운티는 2개의 메티스 정착지가 없는 2,459명의 인구를 가지고 있었다.[8]
