두려움 없는 초계함은 1990년대 싱가포르 해군을 위해 싱가포르 테크놀로지스(ST) 마린호가 건조했다. 배들은 함께 182중대와 189중대를 편성했다.

민디프는 2013년 1월 30일 ST엔지니어링에 프로이드급 초계함을 대체할 8척의 신규 선박 설계 및 건조 계약을 체결했다. ST 엔지니어링은 이 그룹의 해양 암사인 ST 마린사가 싱가포르 베노이 야드에 8척의 선박을 건조할 것이라고 발표했다. 그룹의 전자회사인 ST전자가 핵심 전투 시스템과 전투 시스템 통합 솔루션을 공급할 것이다. ST 마린사가 선도적 시스템 통합자로서 플랫폼 시스템 통합을 진행한다. 첫 선박은 2016년에 인도될 예정이었고, 2020년까지 8척의 선박이 모두 완전 가동될 것으로 예상되었다.[1][2]

역사

프로이드급 초계함은 경찰 해안경비대로 이송된 뒤 당초의 스위프트급 연안 초계기의 대체선으로서 명령을 받았다.[3] 계약은 1993년 2월 27일 ST 마린에게 수여되었다. 처음 6척은 대잠전용으로 장착하고 나머지는 초계함으로 구성했다.

1996년 초계함 사업을 이끄는 국방과학진흥원 프로젝트팀이 국방기술상을 수상했다.[4]

2003년 1월 3일 RSS Craville은 싱가포르 해협에서 컨테이너선과 충돌하여 심하게 파손되었다.[5] 그 배는 그 후 해군 명단에서 제외되었다.[6]

2005년 1월 189개 중대가 함대에서 해안사령부로 이양되어 현재 11척의 함정이 182개 중대와 189개 중대를 형성하고 있다.[7]

2012년 4월, ST 마린호는 오만 국방부로부터 Fearl 등급 기준 75m(246ft) 초계함 4척을 건조하는 계약을 받았다. 선박은 2015~2016년 알오푸크급으로 인도됐다.[8]

2021년 1월 26일, RSS 신가푸라에서 열린 기념식에서, 2척의 선박 MSRV 센티넬과 MSRV 가디언이 4척의 센티넬급 해상보안 및 대응함(MSRV)의 일부로 운용 서비스에 들어갔다. 4척의 선박은 RSN의 해상보안사령부(MARSEC)가 해상보안 및 대응 플로티야에 배치할 전 공포급 경비함정을 정비하고 있다. 민데프는 또 다른 두 개인 MSRV 프로텍터와 MSRV 바스티온도 향후 몇 개월 내에 정비 및 운영될 것이라고 덧붙였다. 수명을 연장하기 위해 선박을 재장착하는 것은 물론 센티넬급 MSRV도 다양한 보정 기능을 탑재한다. 여기에는 향상된 통신 장비, 향상된 시각 및 오디오 경고 시스템, 펜더 시스템 설치 및 모듈식 탄도 보호가 포함된다.[9]

ST엔지니어링은 2021년 11월 아랍에미리트(UAE) 해군을 위해 Fraud 등급의 Faraj 3급 해상초계함 4척을 건조하고 있는 아부다비함빌딩(ADSB)으로부터 설계, 플랫폼 장비, 기술지원 등의 하도급 계약을 따냈다.[10]
