NGC 6334는 고양이발 성운, 곰발톱 성운 또는 껌 64로 알려져 있으며 [4]전갈자리의 방출 성운이자 별을 형성하는 영역입니다.NGC 6334는 1837년 천문학자 존 허셜에 의해 발견되었는데, 그는 남아프리카의 [5]희망봉에서 NGC 6334를 관측했다.이 성운은 우리은하의 용골자리-사기타리우스 팔(Carina-Sagittarius Arm)[6]에 있으며,[7] 태양으로부터 약 5.5킬로라이트의 거리에 있습니다.
성운은 최대 320년에 이르는 고질량 필라멘트 구름 구조입니다.스펙트럼의 가시적인 부분에서는 주로 빨간색(수소 원자)과 파란색(산소 원자)[8]으로 방출된다.적외선과 전파 방출로 인해 별이 형성되는 여러 영역이 발견되었습니다.이들 사이트 중 4곳이 HII [6]지역을 형성했다.
