NGC 6047은 헤라클레스 별자리에서 약 4억 3천만 광년 떨어진[2] 곳에 위치한 타원 은하다.[3] 1886년 6월 27일 천문학자 루이스 스위프트에 의해 발견되었다.[4] NGC 6047은 헤라클레스 성단의 일원이다.[5][6][7]
NGC 6047에는 최근 합병을 거쳤음을 시사하는 독특한 형태학이[5][8][9] 있다.[6][7][10] 그것은 약 320,000 ly (97 kpc) 떨어져 있는 NGC 6045와 상호작용하고 있을 수 있다.[8] NGC 6047은 2개의 무선 제트를[6][7] 가지고 있으며 FR I 무선 은하로 분류된다.[9] 제트기는 Z자 모양의 구조로 보인다.[5]
