해상수호대(Marine Protector class)는 미국 해안경비대의 연안 경비정의 한 부류다. 87피트 길이의 이 선박은 다멘 그룹의 스탠 2600 디자인을 바탕으로 루이지애나주 록포트의 볼링거 시퍼즈(Bollinger Shipyards)가 건조했다. 각각의 배는 날거나 수영하는[3] 바다 생물들의 이름을 따서 지어졌다.
해경은 지난 1999년 선박 50척에 대해 원래 명령을 내렸는데, 이 선박은 2002년 중반까지 인도됐다.[4] 몇 차례 추가 주문으로 총 74척의 선박이 입항했으며, 마지막인 USCGC Sea Fox는 2009년 10월 완공되었다.[3][5][6] 해외 군사 판매용으로 4척의 선박이 추가로 건조되었는데, 각각 2척은 몰타와 예멘으로 간다.[7]
해병대 보호대 클래스는 82피트 지점 클래스를 대체했다. 이 오래된 배들은 소형 1척, 대형 1척의 토출구역을 갖고 있었고, 소형 크레인을 통해 추격하는 팽창형 보트를 전개하거나 회수하기 위해 5분 이상 멈춰야 했다. 마지막 포인트 클래스 커터는 2003년에 해체되었다.[8][9]
국토안보부는 2020년 해양수호원 8명이 해역할 수 있는 2021년 해양경비대에 새 센티넬급 커터들이 임무를 수행할 수 있도록 예산을 제안했다.[10]
일반적 특성
임무에는 마약 밀반입, 불법 이민, 해양 어업 단속, 수색 및 구조 지원 등이 포함된다. 2001년 9월 11일 공격 이후 많은 사람들은 항만 수로 및 해안 경비대(PWCS) 순찰 형태의 국토 안보 임무를 가지고 있다.[11]
선박이 진행 중인 동안 절단기의 선미 발사 램프를 통해 탑승객을 태울 수 있다.[3] 부착된 강체 선체 팽창식 보트(RHIB)는 이 등급의 절단기 도입 초기부터 승선 파티와 구조 및 지원 팀의 속도 및 해상 상태 지속가능성을 높이기 위해 업그레이드되었다. 엄중한 발사체계는 승무원 1명만 갑판에 남아 탑승객을 태우거나 회수하면 된다.
그들의 고속추적선은 커터와 같은 디젤 연료를 사용한다.[3]
커터는 최대 속도 26노트(48km/h; 30mph)로 시간당 약 165갤런의 디젤을 소비한다.
미국의 모든 새로운 해안경비대 함정과 마찬가지로, 해병 지킴이 등급은 성별이 혼합된 승무원들을 수용하도록 설계되었으며, 최대 12명의 최대 지렛대 10명을 수용할 수 있는 다섯 개의 작은 지렛대 공간을 가지고 있다.[3]
조지아 주 킹스베이의 미 해군 잠수함 기지를 경비하는 임무를 부여받은 해룡과 바다개, 워싱턴 주 뱅고르의 또 다른 잠수함 기지가 원격조종 방식으로 운용되는 기관총을 추가로 장착하고 있다.[3]

This initiative decommissions eight 87-foot Marine Protector Class CPBs. This initiative is based on the acquisition of the Fast Response Cutter (FRC) and Response Boat – Medium (RB-M), both of which are more capable than the legacy assets that they replace.
