HD 120987(y Centauri 또는 y Cen)은 센타우루스자리에 위치한 항성계통이다.HD 120987은 태양으로부터 50pc(163광년) 떨어진 곳에 위치한 5중주 별 시스템이다.이 시스템은 겉보기 크기가 5.565이다.[2]이 시스템의 시차를 기준으로 약 172광년(52파섹) 떨어진 곳에 위치한다.[1]
HD 120987은 스펙트럼 분류 F4V의 단일 F형 항성으로 보이지만 정밀 검사 결과 각각 F0V와 F1V의 스펙트럼 분류가 있는 유사한 F형 주계열성 2개로 나타났다.[4]두 사람은 373년에 한 번씩 서로 공전하며, 매우 이심적인 궤도를 돌면서 1.519 아크초 간격으로 떨어져 있다.[3]
