아필란테스는 지중해 서부의 고유종인 아필란테스 몬스펠리엔시스(Aphyllantes monspeeliensis)가 한 종만 있는 꽃식물 속이다. 아스파라가과(Aspylanthoideae)의 하위과인 아필란토아과(Aphylanthoideae)의 유일한 속이다. 아필란토아과(Aphyllanthoideae)는 이전에는 별족인 아필란토아과(Aphyllanthae)로 취급되었다.[3]
아필란트는 서식지를 선호하기 때문에 인기 있는 암석 정원 식물이다. 그들은 지중해에서 유래했기 때문에 덥고 건조한 환경에 적응한다. 게다가, 그들의 크고 밝은 꽃들은 이 종의 시장 경작을 증가시키는 매력적인 특성이다.
