54 에리다니는 에리다누스 적도 별자리의 태양으로부터 약 400광년 떨어진 곳에 위치한 점성계 이항성으로[10] 추정되는 항성계다.그것은 육안으로 볼 때 기준 외관상 시각적 크기가 4.32인 희미하고 불그스름한 후이 항성으로 보인다.[3]이 물체는 -33 km/s의 태양 중심 방사상 속도로 지구 가까이 이동하고 있다.[3]
눈에 보이는 성분은 현재 점근성 거대 분기에 있는 노화된 적색 거성별으로 M3/4 III의 별 분류를 한다.[4][5]SRb 아형의 반정형 변수 항성으로, 4.28에서 4.36까지 등급이 내려간다.[7]이 별의 맥동 기간은 18.8일과 45.5일로 각각 진폭 0.019일이다.[1]중심부의 수소가 소진된 상태에서, 이 별은 태양 반지름의 약 69배까지[2] 확장되었고 3,915K의 유효 온도로 부풀어 오른 광구에서 태양의 1,021배의[2] 광도를 방출하고 있다.[2]
