역사

에릭 브라이언은 클리프 존슨 변호사와 함께 워싱턴 롱비치에서 가족 휴양지 관리에 어려움을 겪은 뒤 2009년 바카사를 공동 설립했다.[19]

바카사는 2014년 6월 포틀랜드 비즈니스 저널이 선정한 '가장 빠르게 성장하는 민간 100대 기업'에서 3년 성장률이 3,034.59%[20]로 1위를 차지했다. 2014년 8월, 이 회사는 한국에서 가장 빠르게 성장하고 있는 9위의 개인 소유 회사로 선정되었다. 매거진은 매년 Inc. 5000년 리스트에 올라 있으며, 3년 동안 16,192%[21]의 성장률을 보였다. 2016년 11월 16일 북아메리카에서 가장 빠르게 성장하고 있는 기술기업을 인정하는 딜로이트가 선정한 2016 Technology Fast 500에서 바카사는 500명 중 67위에 올랐다.[22]

2019년 바카사는 윈덤 항공사에서 윈덤 휴가 임대료를 1억6200만 달러에 인수했다.[15][25] 바카사도 구글과 제휴해 이용 가능한 임대 부동산을 여행 및 숙박 검색 결과에 통합했다.[26] 휴가 렌탈 매니지먼트사는 이번이 처음이다.[27]

에릭 브라이언은 2020년 2월 11일 바카사의 CEO에서 물러났다.[28] 바카사 이사회 멤버 겸 전 오픈테이블 최고경영자(CEO) 매트 로버츠가 브레온을 임시 CEO로 교체한 데 이어 2020년 여름 상임이사로 선임됐다.[2]

바카사는 2021년 4월 1일 턴키 휴가 임대차 인수를 확정하고, 포트폴리오에 6,000개 이상의 미국 부동산을 추가했으며, 총 재산수를 3만개 이상으로 끌어올렸다.[29]

자금조달

바카사는 2016년 4월 12일 시리즈A 투자자 레벨에쿼티(Level Equity)가 주도하는 3500만 달러의 금융 확보를 발표했다.[30][31][32] 2016년 11월 14일 바카사는 리스크 관리 제공업체 어수란트로부터 500만 달러를 투자한 후 시리즈 A 라운드를 4,000만 달러로 연장한다고 발표했다.[33] 2009년 창업 이후 첫 외부자본 유치에 나선 것이다.[30][34]

2017년 10월 17일, 바카사는 시리즈 B 펀딩으로 1억350만 달러를 모금했다.[35] 현재까지 이는 휴가 임대 관리 분야에서 조달된 자금 중 최대 규모이며,[36] 오리건주의 한 기술 기업에서 조달한 것 중 최대 규모의 시리즈 B 자금 조달 라운드다.[37]

2018년 10월 18일 바카사는 시리즈B의 연장선상에서 6,400만 달러를 모금해 회사의 총자금은 2억 7,750만 달러로 늘어났다.[38] 2018년 바카사는 윈덤 바캉스 렌탈스를 제치고 북미 최대 휴가 임대 관리 회사가 됐다.[39]

2019년 10월 29일, 바카사는 10억 달러 이상의 가치를 지닌 시리즈 C 자금으로 3억1900만 달러를 모금했다고 발표했다.[40]

2020년 6월 2일, 바카사는 기존 투자자인 실버레이크가 이끄는 시리즈 D 자금으로 1억 8백만 달러를 모금했다고 발표했다.

바카사는 2021년 7월 TPG 페이스 그룹이 후원하는 특수목적취득기업(SPAC)인 TPG 페이스 솔루션스와의 합병을 통해 상장기업으로 거듭나겠다고 발표했다. 그 사업결합은 바카사에게 45억 달러의 지분평가를 제공했다.[42] 바카사는 12월 7일 합병 완료로 나스닥에 데뷔했다.

기술

바카사 필드앱을 개발해 지역 운영팀에게 실시간 정보와 집수리권 업데이트를 제공하고, 지리적 지역 전반에서 집 청소 일정을 최적화하는 스케줄러 알고리즘이 포함된 홈케어 허브도 개발했다.[5]

2021년 11월에는 바카사 홈오너 앱을 출시해 집주인과 홈퍼니션 정보를 모바일로 공유했다.[43]

부동산

바카사는 2018년 7월 바카사 부동산(Vacasa Real Estate)을 론칭해 전국 전문 에이전트 네트워크를 통해 휴가 렌탈 구매자와 판매자를 지원했다.[44][45] 바카사의 부동산 암이 계속 확대되자 애리조나, 플로리다, 하와이, 오리건, 사우스캐롤라이나 등지에 증권사를 출범시켰고, 향후 전국으로 확대할 계획이다.[46]

기타 서비스

2018년 바카사 지역사회관리와 멀티플라이 서비스를 출범시켜 휴가객을 위한 서비스를 전면적으로 구축했다.[47][48]

바카사는 2019년 부동산 소유자와 개발자를 위한 인테리어 디자인 서비스를 시작했다.[49][50]
