Appceelerator는 캘리포니아 주 산호세에 본사를 둔 개인 소유의 모바일 기술 기업이다.크로스 플랫폼 모바일 개발을 위한 오픈소스 소프트웨어 개발 키트인 티타늄과 앱셀레이터 플랫폼이 주력 제품이다.[citation needed]

2006년에 설립된 Appcelerator는 소매업, 금융 서비스, 의료, 정부 등의 산업에 서비스를 제공하고 있다.[4][5][6]2014년 현재 벤처캐피털 자금조달로 9000만 달러 이상을 조달했다.[4]

역사

제프 헤이니와 놀란 라이트는 헤이니가 공동 설립한 애틀랜타에 본사를 둔 IP 회사인 보컬로시티에서 만났다.[7]2006년 헤이니가 보컬로시티를 매각한 뒤 두 사람은 웹 2.0 애플리케이션 개발 회사 하카노를 설립했다.[8]

2007년에 Appcelerator로 개명된 Hakano는 풍부한 인터넷 애플리케이션(RIA) 개발을 위한 오픈 소스 플랫폼을 만들기 시작했다.[9]JBoss의 설립자인 마크 플뢰리는 고문으로 입사했다.[10]

2008년 Appcelerator는 캘리포니아주 마운틴뷰로 이전하였고, 이후 Appcelerator 티타늄 제품의 미리보기를 발표하여 Adobe AIR의 오픈 소스 경쟁자로써 의견을 모았다.[11][12]

앱셀레이터는 2009년부터 모바일 앱에 집중하기 시작했다.지난 6월에는 기존 웹 및 데스크톱 애플리케이션 기능에 안드로이드와 iOS 앱 개발 지원을 추가한 티타늄 공개 베타 버전을 출시했다.[13]티타늄 1.0은 2010년 3월에 출시되었다.[14]

애플레이터는 2010년 10월부터 2011년 사이에 직원 수를 5배로 늘렸다.이 회사의 2011년 매출은 총 340만 달러로 2008년보다 374% 증가했다.[15]

2011년과 2013년 사이에 Appcelerator는 다음을 포함한 인수를 발표했다.

애플레이터는 2015년 산호세 본사로 이전했다.

티타늄

앱셀레이터 티타늄은 단일 자바스크립트 코드베이스에서 iOS, 안드로이드, 윈도폰 등 플랫폼 전반에 걸쳐 네이티브, 하이브리드, 모바일 웹 앱을 만들 수 있는 오픈소스 프레임워크다.[30][31]2013년 2월 현재, 전 세계 스마트폰의 10%가 티타늄으로 만들어진 앱을 실행했다.[32]같은 해 8월 현재 티타늄은 50만 명에 가까운 개발자 등록을 보유하고 있다.[33]

합금

알로이는 티타늄 위에 구축된 아파치 라이선스 모델-뷰-컨트롤러 앱 프레임워크로 앱 사용자 인터페이스와 비즈니스 로직, 데이터 모델을 분리할 수 있는 간단한 모델을 제공한다.[34][35]

Appcelerator 제품으로 구축된 앱은 자바스크립트로 작성된다.자바스크립트는 초기에는 웹언어로 개발됐지만 모바일 개발이 요구하는 속도, 규모, 사용자 경험 요건 등을 충족시킬 수 있어 모빌리티에 대한 인기가 높아지고 있다.[36][37]Forrester Research에 따르면, 자바스크립트 채택은 10여 년 만에 "기업 애플리케이션 개발에서 가장 큰 변화"를 위한 발판을 마련하고 있다.[38]

자금조달

2008년 12월 애플레이터는 스톰벤처스와 래리 아우구스틴이 이끄는 410만 달러의 1차 벤처 라운드를 마감했다.[11][39]이후 2010년 10월 페이팔과 파트너십을 발표하고 시에라벤처스, 이베이 등 투자자들로부터 시리즈B 자금 900만 달러를 모금했다고 밝혔다.[40]

애플레이터는 2011년 11월 메이필드 펀드, 레드햇, 트랜스링크캐피털 등이 주도한 시리즈C 펀딩에서 1500만 달러를 모금했고, 2013년 7월 싱가포르 정부 경제개발원 벤처펀드인 EDBI가 주도한 라운드에서 1210만 달러를 추가로 모금했다.[41][42][43]

2014년 8월 25일 앱셀레이터는 렘브란트 벤처파트너스가 주도하는 시리즈 D 자금 2200만 달러를 발표했다.[44]현재까지 모바일 참여 플랫폼에 대한 총 자금 지원액은 9,000만 달러 이상이다.[4]
