사우스포트 스피트(Southport Spit, 공식적으로는 The Spit)는 오스트레일리아 퀸즐랜드 주 골드코스트 시 메인비치 북쪽 끝에 있는 침과 이웃 지역이다.[1][2]사우스포트 브로드워터(Southport Broadwater)와 태평양을 가르는 영구적인 모래 침이다.[3]

씨월드 드라이브(Seaworld Drive)는 더 스핏(The Spit)의 지역과 메인 비치(Main Beach)의 나머지 지역을 연결하는 주요 도로다.스핏의 동쪽 바다 쪽에 있는 파크랜드와 자연 채식 모래언덕은 켐프 가의 메인 비치에서 시작하여 메인 비치 퍼레이드까지 계속 이어져 있다.[4]

스피트는 1897년과 1898년 사이에 형성된 것으로,[8] 스트래드브로크 섬의 좁은 땅 구역인 점프핀(27°434350″S 153°26′43″E / 27.7306°S 153.4453°E / -27.7306; 153.4453 (점핀))에서 공해가 침범했을 때 근해 표류한 산물이다.[9]이것은 새로운 해양 통로인 Jumpinpin Channel을 만들었고, Stradbroke 섬을 둘로 나누었다(North Stradbroke Island와 South Stradbroke Island).그것이 만들어낸 연속적인 해안 표류는 남스트라드브로크 섬을 침식하고 문다레와 마을은 1930년대 후반부터 브로드워터 입구가 북쪽으로 이주하면서 폭풍우 속에서 바다로 유실되기 시작했다.[7][10]

The Southport Spit is home to Sea World (27°57′21″S 153°25′33″E / 27.9559°S 153.4257°E / -27.9559; 153.4257 (Sea World)), Sea World Resort, the Sheraton Mirage Resort and Spa, as well as Palazzo Versace (27°58′01″S 153°25′33″E / 27.9670°S 153.4259°E / -27.9670; 153.4259 (Palazza Versace Australia)).[4]

On the end of The Spit is the Gold Coast Sand Pumping Jetty (27°56′19″S 153°25′57″E / 27.9386°S 153.4324°E / -27.9386; 153.4324 (Sand Bypass Pumping Jetty)), a popular destination for fishermen and part of the Gold Coast Seaway's Sand Bypassing System.[15]
