역사

쉐어릿은 싱가포르 소재 스마트미디어4U 테크놀로지로 소유권이 이전되기 전 레노버 산하에 처음 출시됐다.[9][10] 처음 출시되었을 때, 앱은 피어 투 피어 파일 공유 촉진자일 뿐이었다. 쉐어릿은 이후 타임즈뮤직 등 엔터테인먼트 제공업체와 협업해 사용자가 동영상을 볼 수 있는 앱에 엔터테인먼트 기능을 도입했다.[11] 쉐어릿은 2018년 5월 8일 남인도 OTT 플랫폼 패스트필름즈 앱을 인수하고 창업자 카람 말호트라(Karam Malhotra)를 이 회사의 파트너&부사장으로 선임했다.[12][13]

COVID-19 대유행 당시인 2020년 샤리트는 감염 추적과 바이러스 확산 정보 공유를 위해 COVID-19 추적기와 비디오 섹션을 도입했다. 셰리트는 백신 신뢰도 제고와 필리핀 경제 회복 속도를 높이기 위한 필리핀 멀티미디어 캠페인 '잉가트 앙가트 바쿠나 라하트'에도 참여했다.[14][15][16]

게임

SHAREit을 피어에서 피어 파일 및 콘텐츠 공유 앱으로 업그레이드한 데 이어 별도의 게임 센터가 앱에 도입돼 HTML5 게임과 게임 동영상을 재생할 수 있게 됐다.[17][18][19]

인도

2017년 인도 국방부는 샤리엇, 위챗, 미 스토어, 트루콜러 등 42개 인기 앱에 대해 보안 우려를 제기하고 군 당국에 휴대전화와 컴퓨터에 있는 앱을 모두 제거하라고 지시했다.[20] 쉐어릿은 자사 구글과의 보안 메타데이터 통합 프로그램이 쉐어릿을 통해 전송된 모든 앱을 구글 플레이에 의해 선별되고 인증된 악성코드가 무료로 제공되도록 한 뒤 쉐어릿 앱을 통해 기기 간 공유가 가능하도록 했다는 의혹에 대해 반박했다.[21] 인도 정부는 2020년 6월 라다크 내 LAC(Line of Real Control, Line of Real Control, Line of Restrical Control, Ladak)를 둘러싼 긴장이 인도군과 중국군 사이에 치명적인 대결로 번지자 쉐리엇, 틱톡, UC Browser, 웨이보, 젠더[22] 등 59개 앱의 금지 조치를 발표했다.[23][24]
