PathCheck Foundation은 2020년 2월 MIT에서[1][2] 설립된 자원봉사 주도 비영리 단체로 디지털 연락처 추적을 위한 COVID-19 앱을 개발한다.[3][4]그 단체는 1000명 이상의 자원봉사자로 구성되어 있다.또 다양한 기업이 재단에 직원 시간을 기부하고 있다.이전에는 COVID 안전 경로(MIT 안전 경로 이전)로 알려져 있었으나, 2020년 6월 28일 PathCheck Foundation으로 명칭이 변경되었다.

PathCheck 앱의 원천 기술은 Ramesh Raskar가 Sandy Pentland, Kent Larson, Steve Penrod, Kevin Esborth와 함께 만든 MIT Private Kit: Safe Paths 앱에 기반을 두고 있었다.창립팀에는 아비셰크 싱, 크리스틴 빌칸스, 알리나 클라우, 프란체스코 마리아 벤데티, 카우샬 자인, 카흘릴 루이지, 시에나 레이스, 그렉 나다우, 레이첼 바바리, 존 워너 등이 포함되었다.[5]
