NGC 5229는 용골자리 방향에 있는 나선 은하입니다.이 행성은 M51 은하군에 속하지만 실제로는 다른 [3]은하와 상대적으로 떨어져 있습니다.이 은하의 원반은 약간 뒤틀려 있고 지구에서 [1][4]우리가 보는 지점에서 서로 연결된 일련의 별들로 이루어져 있는 것으로 보입니다.이것의 지름은 약 7킬로파섹(23,000광년)이고 나이는 약 137억 [2]년이다.
