μ Lyrae는 라틴어로 Mu Lyrae라고 불리며, 북쪽 별자리인 Lyra에 있는[8] 홀로 있는 별이다.아라비아어 لأظ al al alf al-/arf fromr/에서 유래한 전통적인 이름인 Alathfar /əlæθffrr/를 가지고 있는데, 이 이름은 에타 리래와[9] 공유되는 이름이다(IAU에서 "Aladfar"로 표기함).[10]이 흰 후두의 물체는 육안으로 볼 때 명백한 시각적 크기 5.11의 희미한 빛의 지점으로 보인다.[2]시차를 기준으로 태양으로부터 약 412광년 떨어진 곳에 위치하지만 방사상 속도 -24km/s로 더 가까이 표류하고 있다.[1][2]

이 물체는 주계열성으로부터 진화하여 [3]A0 IV의 별 분류를 가진 부주류가 되었다.[4]그것은 165 km/s의 예상 회전 속도를 보여주면서 상당히 높은 회전 속도를 가지고 있다.[3]이것은 별에게 극 반지름보다 17% 더 큰 적도 불덩이를 주고 있다.[11]이 별은 태양의 3배[3], 태양의 반경 약 4.5배의 질량을 가지고[6] 있다.그것은 유효 온도 9,016 K로 태양의 광권으로부터 태양 광도의 200배를[3] 방출하고 있다.[3]
