MKS Toolkit은 PTC에 의해 제작 및 유지 보수되는 소프트웨어 패키지이며 Unix 및 Linux 소프트웨어를 Microsoft Windows로 스크립팅, 연결 및 이식하기 위한 Unix와 같은 환경을 제공합니다.원래 MS-DOS용으로 만들어졌으며 OS/2 버전은 4.[1]4 버전까지 출시되었습니다.개발자, 파워 유저, 엔터프라이즈 개발자, 상호 운용성을 위한 MKS Toolkit 등 각 버전의 여러 에디션을 이용할 수 있으며, 엔터프라이즈 개발자 에디션이 가장 완전한 [2]에디션입니다.
PTC 이전에는 MKS Toolkit은 MKS Inc.가 소유하고 있었습니다.1999년 MKS는 미국 버지니아주 페어팩스에 본사를 둔 Datafocus Inc.라는 회사를 인수했다.Datafocus 제품 NuTCRACKER는 1994년부터 Unix 호환성 기술의 일부로 MKS Toolkit을 포함했습니다.MKS Toolkit도 Microsoft에 의해 Windows Services for Unix의 첫 번째 두 가지 버전에 대한 라이선스를 받았으나 Microsoft가 Interix를 인수하면서 Interix를 선호하게 되었습니다.
버전 10.0은 2017년 [3]10월[update] 현재 최신 버전입니다.

지원되는 운영 체제
MKS Toolkit 제품은 Microsoft Windows 운영 [8]체제의 모든 IA-32 및 x64를 지원합니다.Windows 9x에서 [9]IA-32 버전을 실행하는 기능이 일부 손실되었습니다. 이전 버전은 MS-DOS 및 호환 운영 [10]체제에서 실행되었습니다.

In addition, because of the lack of certain operating features on Windows 95/98/Me, some MKS Toolkit UNIX APIs run in degraded mode (or return without doing anything) on those platforms.
