Higham Ferrers Pits는 10헥타르의 자연보호구역 Northamptonshire이다.Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire를 위한 Wildlife Trust에 의해 관리된다.[1]이 곳은 Upper Nene Valley Gaglaval Pits of Special Scientific [2][3]Interest, Ramsar 국제적으로 중요한[4] 습지 및 EC Birds Directive에 따른 특별보호구역의 일부다.[5]
네네 강 옆에 있는 이 좁은 초원은 작은 회색, 삽쟁이, 갈대갈매기, 갓월, 갈대 번트 같은 새들을 번식시키고 겨울을 나게 하는 피난처다.다양한 잠자리들과 잠자리들이 있다.[1]
네네웨이 원거리 도로는 이곳을 통과한다.
