페르난도 멀렌베르크 셰퍼(1998년 4월 6일생)는 브라질의 수영 선수다.[1]자유형 200m에서는 도쿄 2020 올림픽 동메달리스트, 2019 팬아메리칸 게임 금메달리스트, 대회 남미 기록 보유자다.그는 단기간에 2018 세계수영선수권대회 자유형 400m 계주에서 세계 챔피언이자 세계기록 보유자가 되었다.

초년기

2018년 4월 27일 리우데자네이루에서 열린 마리아 렌크 트로피 대회(장코스)에 참가한 셰퍼는 200m 자유형 경기에서 1분46.08초 만에 남미 기록을 갈아치웠다.[6]사흘 뒤 자유형 400m에서 남미 기록을 3분49.06초 만에 갈아 치웠다.[7]

코차밤바에서 열린 2018 남아메리카 대회에서는 200m와 4×200m 자유형에서 2관왕, 4×100m 자유형에서 은메달을 획득했다.

일본 도쿄에서 열린 2018 범태평양수영선수권대회에서 셰퍼는 남자 200m 자유형 4위,[8] 남자 400m 자유형[9] 4위, 남자 400m 자유형 6위로 국제대회에 첫 출전했다.[10]

2018년 8월 25일 상파울루에서 열린 호세 핀켈 트로피 대회(짧은 코스)에 참가한 셰퍼는 400m 자유형 경기에서 3분 40.87초 만에 남미 기록을 갈아치웠다.[11]

셰퍼는 2020년 도쿄 하계올림픽에서 남자 자유형 200m에서 1분45.05초로 남미 최고기록을 갈아치우며 준결승 2위에 올랐다.[25] 셰퍼는 준결승에서 꼴찌로 예선전을 치른 뒤 결승에서 다시 한 번 자신을 능가해 1분44초66으로 남미 기록을 다시 크게 따돌리고 동메달을 따내며 이 종목에서 마지막으로 올림픽 메달을 획득한 브라질인 구스타보 보르헤스의 위업을 되풀이했다.셰퍼는 메달을 따기 위해 올림픽에서 남미 기록을 1초 가까이 낮췄다.[26]
