덱스터(맬웨어)
Dexter (malware)덱스터는 마이크로소프트 윈도우를 실행하는 컴퓨터를 감염시키는 컴퓨터 바이러스나 판매 시점 악성코드로, 2012년 12월 IT 보안업체 세큐러트에 의해 발견되었다. 전 세계 PoS 시스템을 감염시키고 신용카드, 직불카드 정보 등 민감한 정보를 도용한다.[1][2]
2013년 12월, 연구원들은 미국 상인들을 강타한 활발한 캠페인에서 2만장의 카드를 절충한 덱스터의 주요 개정판인 '스타더스트'를 발견했다.[3] 매장이나 음식점이 고객의 신용카드와 직불카드 결제를 처리하는 데 사용하는 PoS(Point-of-Sale) 단말기를 대상으로 한 것으로 알려진 최초의 봇넷 중 하나였다.[3]
