CCGS 케이프 노먼(Cape Norman)은 캐나다 해안경비대의 36척의 케이프급 모터보트 중 하나이다.[1][2]그녀와 자매선인 CCGS 케이프 폭스는 뉴펀들랜드 북부 해안에 출항한다.그녀의 본항은 포트오크스 츄익스다.[3]그녀와 케이프 폭스는 2002년 브리티시 컬럼비아 주 빅토리아 시퍼야드에서 건설되었다.[3][4]두 선박은 밴쿠버에서 다른 선박을 타고 뉴욕으로 운송된 뒤 자체 전력으로 진행됐다.
디자인
케이프 노먼은 모든 케이프급 모터보트와 마찬가지로 배수량이 20단(18t)이고 총 길이는 47피트 11인치(14.61m), 빔은 14피트(4.3m)이다.[5]해양 등급 알루미늄으로 제작되었으며 4피트 6인치(1.37m)의 드레이트를 가지고 있다.그것은 두 개의 컴퓨터로 작동되는 디트로이트 DDEC-III 6V-92를 포함하고 있다.복합 870축 마력(650kW)을 제공하는 TA 디젤 엔진.28×36인치(710㎜×910㎜) 4번 블레이드 프로펠러 2개를 탑재하고 있으며, 승무원 4명과 승객 5명을 보완했다.[5]
구명보트는 최고 속도가 25노트(46km/h; 29mph), 순항 속도는 22노트(41km/h; 25mph)이다.케이프급 구명보트는 400 US 갤런(1,500 l; 330 imf gal)의 연료 용량과 순항 시 200해리(370 km; 230 mi)의 범위를 가진다.[5]케이프 노먼은 50노트(93km/h; 58mph)의 풍속과 30피트(9.1m)의 파고가 가능하다.최대 150톤(170단톤)의 변위선을 견인할 수 있으며 60knot(110km/h; 69mph)의 바람과 20피트(6.1m) 높이의 파도를 견딜 수 있다.[5]
통신 옵션으로는 레이시온 152 HF-SSB와 모토로라 스펙트럼 9000 VHF50W 라디오, 레이시온 Ray 430 loudhailer 시스템이 있다.[5]보트는 또한 Simrad TD-L1550 VHF-FM 무선 방향 탐지기를 지지한다.레이시온은 구명보트에 RAYHART 620, ST 30 헤드 인디케이터 및 ST 50 깊이 인디케이터, NAV 398 글로벌 포지셔닝 시스템, RAYPILOT 650 오토파일럿 시스템 및 R41X AN 또는 SPS-69 레이더 시스템 중 하나를 포함한 다수의 기타 전자 시스템을 제공한다.[5]

Both CCGS Cape Norman and CCGS Cape Fox operate from May to October on 30-minute state of readiness with 24 hours a day, seven days a week coverage. The CCGS Cape Norman's primary area of operation is from Cow Head north to Cape Bauld along the west coast of the island of Newfoundland. The CCGS Cape Fox's area of operation is from Port aux Basques north to Cow Head.

One interesting story I have seen in my job experience is about the journey of two vessels, the Cape Fox and Cape Norman. They are two 47' motor life boats weighing approximately 34 tonnes and were built by Victoria Shipyards in British Columbia. These two vessels were actually loaded into another ship on Vancouver Island and then the ship sailed though the Panama Canal to the Port of New York, the reason for this being that the ship could not unload in a Canadian port due to regulations. These two vessels (Cape Fox and Cape Norman) actually sailed under their own power to Dartmouth and then eventually to Newfoundland and Labrador. This was quite a long and interesting journey for these two little vessels!
