베이사이드(Bayside)는 1865년에 설립되어 뉴욕시에서 가장 오래된 유대인 묘지 중 하나가 되었다.매장된 사람들 중에는 남북전쟁의 참전용사들과 타이타닉호 침몰의 희생자인 조지 로젠쉬네도 있다.[3]

베이사이드 공동묘지는 20세기 중반부터 수십 년 동안 공공 기물[2][4] 파손과 지속적인 방치의 수많은 에피소드를 통해 광범위한 황폐화 속으로 빠져들었다.[5]1980년대까지 일부 기간 동안 소유주 샤레 제덱은 랍비나 불규칙한 서비스를 받지 못한 채 "본질적으로 없어졌다"고 말했다.[5]

복원

지난 몇 년 동안, 유대인 위험성 공동묘지 협회인 CAJAC는 베이사이드 묘지를 복원하고 유지하기 위한 주요 프로젝트를 조정했다.CAJAC는 유대인 묘지를 구조하고 유지하기 위한 비영리 단체로 설립되었고, MC 조경사를 고용하여 베이사이드에서 대청소를 실시하였다.자원봉사자들이 전문적인 노력을 보완했다.[2]초기 정리는 2009년 11월까지 완료될 예정이었으나 예상보다 상당히 오래 걸렸고 2012년에 완료되었다.[10]그 이후로 앤서니 피시오타는 그의 장비, 시간, 그리고 기술을 자원하여 손상된 많은 묘지를 수리하고 봉인하고 많은 묘지 표지를 재설정했다.[11][12]
