ORES(Object Revision Evaluation Service) 프로젝트는 위키백과 편집의 품질을 평가하기 위한 인공지능 서비스다.[3][4]위키미디어 재단은 2015년 11월 ORES 프로젝트를 발표했다.[5]

디톡스

디톡스는 위키미디어 커뮤니티 토론에서 사용자들이 불친절한 댓글을 달지 못하도록 하는 프로젝트다.[6]디톡스 프로젝트의 다른 부분들 중, 위키미디어 재단과 지소우가 협력하여 인공지능을 기초 연구에 활용하고 문제를 해결하기 위한 기술적 해결책을 개발했다.2016년 10월, 그 기관들은 자신들의 연구 결과를 기술하는 "Ex Machina: Scale에서 본 인신공격"을 출판했다.[7][8]다양한 대중 매체들이 이 논문의 출판에 대해 보도하고 연구의 사회적 맥락을 설명했다.[9][10][11]

위키미디어 프로젝트의 콘텐츠는 인공지능 연구와 응용을 발전시키는데 데이터 집합으로서 유용하다.예를 들어, 온라인 포럼에서 독성 댓글을 식별하는 구글의 관점 API 개발에서는, 사람이 표기한 독성 수준을 가진 수십만 개의 위키백과 토크 페이지 코멘트가 포함된 데이터세트가 사용되었다.[14]

2012년 한 논문은 인공지능을 사용하는 기사와 함께 위키백과를 살펴보고 위키백과의 정보를 재사용하며 위키백과와 연계된 기술적 확장자를 사용하거나 위키백과에 대한 연구 커뮤니케이션 등을 포함한 1000개 이상의 학술기사들을 보고했다.[15]2017년 논문은 위키피디아를 기계학습에 이용할 수 있는 인간이 만들어낸 텍스트의 모국광으로 묘사했다.[16]
