세계 블랙 푸딩 던지기 대회는 매년 9월 둘째 주 일요일 브릿지 스트리트 로열 오크 펍 외곽의 그레이터 맨체스터의 램스바텀에서 열린다.이 행사는 원래 인근 스터빈스의 코너 핀 펍 밖에서 열렸으며, 그 펍이 폐쇄되어 사무실로 전환되었다.이 행사를 통해 모금된 돈은 지역의 명분에 기부된다.[1]

지역 전설들은 그 전통이 장미 전쟁으로 거슬러 올라간다고 주장한다.1455년 랭커셔 주 스터빈스에서 벌어진 전투에서 랭커스터 가문과 요크 가의 파벌들은 탄약이 바닥나 서로 음식을 던지는데 의존했다고 한다. 랭커셔의 블랙 푸딩과 요크셔의 요크셔 푸딩이다.[2]

이 대회는 1839년 한 술집 집주인이 부활했고 1984년 스터빈스커뮤니티 트러스트에 의해 다시 부활했다.[3][4]그것은 그 이후로 매년 수천 명의 관중을 끌어모으며 그 마을에서 인기 있는 관습이었다.[5]
