워무스

Wamus

와무스는 미국에서 입는 재킷의 일종이다.이 용어는 여러 종류의 상체 의복에 적용된다.

초기의 미국 역사

와무스의 보다 일관된 사용법 중 하나는 머리 위로 미끄러지는 주름진 가죽 튜닉을 묘사하는 것이다.[1][2]미국 남부의 초기 미국 개척자 가족의 경우, 18세기 후반과 19세기 초에 10대 이전의 어린 소년들에 의해 와무스가 널리 착용되었다.[3]앞부분을 열었을 경우, 와무스는 끈으로 닫히거나 벨트로 닫힌 상태로 유지되었고, 엘크 가죽으로 만들어진 드레서 버전이었다.[1]천으로 만들면 와무스는 파랗게 물들였고 노란색 가장자리를 다듬었다.[1]

라코타 사람들이 입었던 와무스는 니모닉한 무늬로 칠해진 것뿐만 아니라 착용자의 유형을 나타내기 위해 색칠한 의식용 튜닉이었다.[2]전통적으로 전사가 적을 메스질했다면, 그는 절단된 가장자리 외에 애도하는 여자들의 머리에서 잘린 인간 털로 그의 시상대를 다듬는 것이 허용되었다.[2]

후기 역사

와무스는 결국 소매가 달린 재킷이나 카디건을 묘사하게 되었는데, 전형적으로 단추가 달린 손목밴드와 벨트 같은 허리띠가 달린 것인데, 어떤 형식에서는 그것을 로터리로 부르기도 했다.[4][5][6]

일요일과 다른 특별한 날들을 위해 아미쉬 남자들은 전통적으로 설교할 때 입는 '머츠'와는 구별되는 와무스라고 불리는 재킷을 입는다.[7][8]
