Tau3 Gruis는 Grus의 남쪽 별자리에 있는[7] 외딴 별이다. 겉보기 크기는 5.71로,[2] 어슴푸레하고 흰색을 띤 별처럼 육안으로 볼 수 있을 만큼 밝다. 이 별은 시차 기준으로 태양으로부터 약 265광년(81pc) 떨어진 곳에 위치하며, 반경 6km/s의 속도로 더 멀리 떠내려가고 있다.[4]

이것은 kA5HA7mF2의 별을 분류한 암별이다[8].[3] 이 표기법은 스펙트럼에 A5 항성의 칼슘 K선, A7 항성의 수소선, F2 항성의 금속선이 표시된다는 것을 나타낸다.[9] 태양 반지름의 2[1].9배를 가지고 있으며 약 7,735K의 유효 온도로 광구에서 태양의 27배[1] 광도를 방출하고 있다.[1]
