스머팅

Smirting

스머팅은 주점, 술집, 카페, 식당, 사무실 건물 등 흡연이 금지된 공공장소 밖에서 담배를 피우고 시시덕거리는 관행이다.[1][2][3][4]

역사

스머팅은 2003년 뉴욕에서 처음 확인됐으며 2004년 공공장소에서 공격적인 흡연 금지가 시행되면서 아일랜드 공화국까지 확산됐다.[5][6][7]

스머팅은 매우 성공적이어서 비흡연자들은 스머터들과 어울리려고 노력한다.[5]그러면 비흡연자들도 담배를 피우기 시작할 수 있기 때문에 이것은 건강상의 위험하다.[8]

사회학자 겸 성리학자 페퍼 슈워츠는 미소짓는 사람들은 "피난적이고 화가 났으며 간접적인 연기 논쟁을 사지 않으며, 이 원한을 다른 사람과 나누고 싶어한다"고 말한다.그들이 밖으로 내몰릴 때, 미소짓는 사람들은 본질적으로 망명 공동체인 곳에서 강한 유대감을 형성한다.[9]그러나 이 망명 공동체는 그 보상을 가지고 있다.한 연구는 2007년 또는 2008년 사이에 관계를 시작한 아일랜드 커플의 25%가 밖에서 담배를 피우는 동안 만났다는 것을 발견했다.[5]
