Roland SP-606

롤랜드 SP-606은 롤랜드사가 제작한 음악 샘플러다.롤랜드의 인기 SP-303과 SP-404 할부가 포함된 SP 계열의 일부다.2004년에 출시된 이 샘플러는 SP-404에 의해 2005년에 곧 성공하였다.[1]

전작들과 달리 SP-606은 케이크워크와 협업해 설계됐다.그 결과, 샘플러는 PC와의 통합과 기능 강화를 위해 당시 케이크워크의 새로운 P606 소프트웨어와 함께 번들로 제공되었다.[2]SP-606은 Isolator, Filter + Drive, Slicer, Reverbb, Tape Echo 등 40여 가지의 다양한 효과를 가지고 있다.D빔 기능도 탑재돼 있어 신스, 트리거, 필터 등 3가지 효과를 물리적으로 제어할 수 있다.내부적으로 저장할 수 있는 샘플의 최대 개수는 128개다.샘플은 'SP606 원본 포맷'으로 기록되며, 사용된 메모리는 대략 16MB에 해당한다.오디오 샘플은 CompactFlash를 통해 WAV/AIF 파일 형식으로 가져오고 내보낸다.또한, CompactFlash는 샘플러 자체를 업데이트하는 데 사용된다.[3]MIDI는 Mac과 PC 모두 USB 연결을 통해 전송할 수 있다.[4][5][6][7]

사용자

출시 당시 SP-303과 SP-404 할부로 초기에는 인기가 없고 성공을 거두지 못했지만, 디지털 샘플러는 매드립과 같은 저명한 프로듀서들이 활용하면서 수년에 걸쳐 작은 팔로워를 받을 수 있었다.[8][9]

I like to move quickly, and these little boxes are easy to use. I can be up in my hotel room in a different city, and just hook up beats right there. I don't like to spend more than 10 minutes at a time on a beat. I get bored and have to move on to the next thing.
