네오시티는 정적 페이지를 위한 상업용 웹 호스팅 서비스다.무료 사이트를 위한 1GB의 저장 공간과 유료 및 무료 구독 모두를 위한 서버측 스크립팅이 제공되지 않으며, 이 서비스의 표현된 목표는 이제 사라진 GeoCities의 무료 웹 호스팅 지원을 되살리는 것이다.네오시티는 2013년에 시작되었다.[1][2]2017년 기준 14만여 개 사이트를 유치했다.[2]

역사

네오시티는 창업자 카일 드레이크가 2013년 5월 23일 만든 뒤 2013년 6월 28일 출시해 사용자 한 명당 10메가바이트의 파일 스토리지를 제공한다.[3]처음에는 GeoCities가 종료되기 전에 이전에 GeoCities에서 호스팅된 사이트의 보관소 역할을 했다.[4]

2014년 5월 8일, 네오시티는 망 중립성에 대한 FCC의 입장에 대한 항의로 FCC 본사의 대역폭 속도를 조기 전화 접속 모뎀 속도로 제한하겠다고 발표했다.[5][6]이 시위는 많은 관심을[7][8][9][10][11][12] 받았고 2015년 2월 2일까지 계속되었다.[13]

이 서비스는 지난 2015년 약 5만5000~5만7000개 사이트를 유치했으며,[14][15] 2017년에는 14만개 이상으로 증가했다.[2]

현재 네오시티는 1GB의 저장 공간을 무료 사용자에게, 50GB의 저장 공간을 '서포터즈'에게 허용하고 있다.

사용법

네오시티는 HTML, CSS,[16] 자바스크립트 등의 프로그래밍 언어를 사용하여 사용자가 직접 웹사이트를 만들 수 있도록 한다.이 도구는 이전에 열거한 언어들을 위한 디버거가 내장되어 있다.그것은 또한 다른 언어들도 사용할 수 있게 해주지만, 그것은 당신의 오류를 검사하지 않을 것이다.
