무달리어(대체 철자: 무드할리아어, 무탈리아어, 무달리어, 무탈리어, 무달리어, 무달리어 또는 무들리)는 타밀어 성이다.[1] 이 성은 타밀 나두와 스리랑카의 타밀 사이에서 가장 널리 퍼져 있다.[2]

이 명칭은 주로 아가무다이야르, 카라야르, 센군타르, 벨랄라르와 같은 지역사회에서 사용되었다.[3][4][5][6] 다른 공동체들은 자신들이 실제로 가지고 있는 사회적 지위보다 우월하다고 자신을 내세우기 위한 수단으로 그것을 채택했다.[3]

어원

제목은 타밀어 muthal 또는 "muthar"에서 따온 것으로 먼저 사람을 나타내는 접미사 yaar를 의미한다.[7] 제목도 단순히 헤드맨을 뜻하는 것과 같은 의미로 쓰인다.[8]
