모델 얼라이언스는 패션 산업에 고용된 모델 등을 위한 연구와 정책에 초점을 맞춘 뉴욕에 본사를 둔 옹호 단체다.[1]모델 사라 지프가 다른 모델들의 지원과 함께 2012년 2월 설립한 모델 얼라이언스는 501(c)(3) 비영리 단체다.[2][3]

옹호

모델 제휴는 신중한 고충 신고 서비스 제공 외에도 기존 아동 노동 및 계약법 시행을 옹호하고, 동등한 기회를 촉진하며, 패션 업계의 책임 문화를 조성한다.[4]

모델 제휴의 자문 위원회에서 활동한 모델로는 코코 로차, 밀라 요보비치, 샬롬 할로우, 카렌 엘슨 등이 있다.[5]

2013년 6월 모델 얼라이언스는 뉴욕주 상원의원 제프리 클라인과 다이앤 사비노가 뉴욕에서 일하는 다른 모든 아동 연기자들과 동일한 보호조치를 아동 모델에게 제공하는 법안을 발의했다고 발표했다.[6]

2013년 10월 모델 얼라이언스는 주지사 앤드루 M을 발표했다. 쿠오모는 뉴욕 주에서 아동 모델 법안(A.77787/S.5486)에 서명했다.[7]2013년 11월, 아동 모델 법이 제정되어 아동 모델에게 뉴욕 주에서 일하는 다른 아동 연기자들과 동일한 보호를 제공한다.

모델얼라이언스는 2017년 2월 모델 중 81.5%가 저체중 체질량지수를 갖고 있다는 연구결과를 발표했다.[8][9]

모델얼라이언스는 2018년 5월 패션업계에서 모델과 동료들을 성학대로부터 보호하기 위해 REVERSE 프로그램을 론칭하는 공개서한을 발간했다.세계 최고의 모델들 중 많은 사람들이 서명하고 지원했다.[10]

창시자

사라 지프는 모델 출신 활동가로, 젊은 시절 모델 업계에서의 경험을 바탕으로 얼라이언스를 시작하게 된 영감을 받았다.14살 때 사진작가의 집에 초대받아 옷을 모두 벗으라고 했고, 15살 때 마약을 자유롭게 구할 수 있는 또 다른 패션 촬영에 나섰다.[11]
