럼니처아는 콤브레테과과에 속하는 인도-웨스트 퍼시픽 맹그로브 속이다. 영어 공용 이름은 블랙 맹그로브(black mangrove)이다. (그러나 "[3]블랙 맹그로브(black mangrove)"는 관련이 없는 아비케니아(Avicennia)를 가리킬 수도 있다.) 독일의 식물학자 스테판 랑미처(1750~1806)의 이름을 딴 랑미처는 동아프리카에서 서태평양(피지와 통가 포함), 호주 북부에 이르는 맹그로브에서 발생한다.[1]

그 속은 식물성 생김새는 비슷하지만 꽃 색깔이 다른 두 종을 가지고 있다. Lummitzera littorea는 빨간 꽃을 가지고 있는 반면 Lummitza 경주마는 하얀 꽃을 가지고 있다. 두 종은 평평하고 숟가락 모양의 잎과 에마르게이트 끝이 있는 잎을 가지고 있다. L. 레이스모사가 사정거리의 서쪽에서, L. 리토레아가 동쪽을 지배한다. 하이브리드는 겹치는 영역 내에서 발생한다(Lummitza × Rosea).[1]
맹그로브에서는 열대 우목류 콤브레타과, 라구놀랄리아, 코노카르푸스, 랑미처아과 3종이 발견되지만 호주를 비롯한 인도-서태평양 맹그로브에서는 랑미처아만이 유일하게 발생한다.[1]
Lummitza 레이스모사 var. 레이스모사(Tuna magrove, 아프리칸스: 통가워텔붐, 줄루: 이시카하-에시봄부)는 남아프리카 공화국의 보호수목이다.[4]
