조기생활과 교육

퀘이드는 뉴멕시코 주 앨버커키에서 백인 아버지와 히스패닉계 어머니 사이에서 태어났다. 그녀의 아버지는 사막 지질학자였고 그녀의 가족은 호주뿐만 아니라 미국 남서부에 걸쳐 살았다.[2] 그녀는 필립스 엑서터 아카데미를 다녔고 스탠포드 대학교에서 BA를, 오리건 대학교에서 MFA를 받았다. 2009년부터 2011년까지 그녀는 스탠포드 대학교의 창의적 글쓰기 프로그램에서 월리스 스테그너 펠로우였으며, 그곳에서 존스 강사로도 강의를 했다.[3] 2014-15년, 그녀는 미시건 대학교의 델반코 창의적 글쓰기 교수였습니다. 그녀는 현재 프린스턴 대학교의 창조적 글쓰기 조교수로 있다.[4][5]
