카라베디는 스리랑카 자프나 구 포인트 페드로 시에서 7km 떨어진 곳에 위치한 마을이다. 타밀어 지역에서는 해안에서 몇 km 떨어져 있지만 해안가로 번역된다.

Karaveddy는 V.K.와 같은 많은 인기 있는 인물들이 태어난 곳이다.Sittampalam, the first Sri Lankan Post Master general, P. Kandiah, the first and only Communist Member of Parliament elected to represent Point Pedro electorate, M. Sivasithamparam, M.P for Uduppiddy & Nallur and the Deputy Speaker of Sri Lankan Parliament,[1] S. Sivagnanasundaram, the Editor of "Chiriththiran" magazine, Prof. 시바담비 [2]씨엘론스(스리랑카)의 유명한 포도 포도밭 주인 V.S.타모타람필라이와 다른 많은 사람들. LTTE의 정치 고문인 안톤 발라싱엄은 어린 시절과 어린 시절 카라베디에서 살았다.[3]

'카라바이 벨란 코바이'는 카라베디에 살았던 봉건 지주에게 바친 고대 문학 작품이다. "카라바이"는 이 마을의 줄인 이름이다.
