존 K. 마라[1](John K. Mara,/MAR-mar-maist, 1954년 12월 1일생)는 뉴욕 자이언츠의 사장, CEO, 공동 소유주다.

초년기

마라는 뉴욕시에서 태어나 인근 교외인 화이트 플레인즈에서 자랐다. 앤 마라(네 뭄)의 장남이자 자이언츠의 고인이 된 웰링턴 마라의 구단주다.[1][2] 마라는 뉴로셸의 이오나 프리 고등학교를 졸업했고 1976년 보스턴 칼리지에서 마케팅 학사학위를 받으며 컴 라우드 우등으로 졸업했다. 마라는 1979년 포드햄 대학교 법학대학원에서 주리스 박사 학위를 받았다. 그는 자이언츠에 합류하기 전에 맨해튼의 두 회사에서 노동법과 고용법과 소송에 전문적으로 종사했다.[3]

마라는 1991년 자이언츠에 입단하여 총 고문변호사를 지냈고, 이후 2005년 아버지가 돌아가실 때까지 전무이사 겸 최고운영책임자(COO)를 지냈다.[2]

비판

마라는 오너 재임 기간 동안 두 번의 슈퍼볼 우승을 차지했음에도 불구하고 2010년대 말과 2020년대 초 오랜 자이언츠 직원들에게 너무 충성스럽다는 비판을 받았다.[6] 그는 데이브 게틀맨 총감독이 2020시즌이 끝난 뒤 계속 감독직을 유지했다는 비판을 받았다.[7]

사생활
