존 벨켐은 영국 명예교수로 19세기 영국의 대중적 급진주의, 아일랜드 이주, 맨 섬, 현대사를 다룬다.[1]그는 리버풀의 역사에 특별한 관심을 가지고 있다.[2]1987년 왕립역사학회[3] 회원으로 위촉되었으며, 왕립미술협회 회원으로 활동하고 있다.[4]

벨켐은 역사학부 총장, 예술학부 학장, 리버풀 대학 부총리를 역임했다.[5][1]그는 현재 노동사학연구회 부회장으로 있다.[6]
