진와르는 인도의 펀자브 주와 우타르프라데시 주에서 발견된 카스트다.

전통적으로 펀자브와 우타르프라데시에서 발견된 진와르 공동체는 보트타기,[1] 물 운반[2], 강 낚시 등의 직업과 연관되어 있었다.[3]

Communities that are related to the Jhinwar by occupation in Uttar Pradesh include the Batham, Bind, Bhar, Dhewar, Dhimar, Gariya, Gaur, Godia, Gond, Guria, Jhimar, Jhir, Jhiwar, Kahar, Kashyap, Keot, Kewat, Kharwar, Khairwar, Kumhar, Machua, Majhi, Majhwar, Mallah, Nishad, Prajapati, Rajbhar, Riakwar, Tura, Turah, Turaha, Tureha and Turaiha. 2013년에는 인도의 긍정적 차별 제도 하에서 주 내의 이러한 지역사회의 일부 또는 전부를 '예약된 카스트'로 재분류해야 한다는 제안이 있었다. 이는 이들을 '기타 후진 계급' 범주에서 해제하는 것을 포함했을 것이다.[1] 이런 일이 벌어질지 여부는 2014년 인도 총선 유세에서 중요한 이슈였다.[4]
