임란 시디키(Imran Siddiki, 1957년 9월 7일 출생)는 인도의 유전학자다. 현재 그는 CCMB(Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology)에서 그룹 리더로 활동하며 연구그룹을 이끌고 있다.[1]

교육

1981년, Siddiki는 인도 공과대학 봄베이에서 화학 석사 과정을 마쳤다.[2] 그 후, 그의 연구는, 교수님의 지도 하에 이루어졌다. 프랭클린 스탈은 그의 논문의 주제였던 박테리오파지에 유전자 재조합에 초점을 맞췄다. 그는 1989년 오리건 대학교로부터 철학박사 학위를 받았다.[3] 시디키의 박사 후 연구는 뱅갈로르에 위치한 인도 과학 연구소에서 수행되었다.

경력

Siddiqi의 연구는 주로 유전학, 식물 개발, 유전적 재조합 분야에서 이루어진다. 그의 연구는 식물의 감수분열, 생식발생, 아포믹시스(성생식) 분야에서 많은 장래성과 진보를 보여주었다.[4] 고수익 복합식물의 씨앗이 모식물의 동일한 유익한 특성을 생산하지 못하는 경우가 많다는 사실은, 그것이 종자를 통해 번식하는 잡종 특성을 억제하기 때문에 농업혁명의 제한 요인이 되어 왔다. 이들 분야의 주요 발전은 새로운 식물 번식 기법의 개발에 도움이 될 것이며, 이 기법은 아포믹시스 공학에 의해 혼합 식물의 정확한 유전자 복제를 생산할 것이다.[5]

1992년부터 그는 하이데라바드의 세포 분자생물학 센터의 과학자다.[6] 식물유전학연구단 구성과 CCMB의 시디키 연구소장.[7] 나아가 생물과학저널,[8] 유전학저널,[9] BMC 식물생물학[10], 통합식물생물학저널 편집위원으로 활동하고 있다.[11]

수상 및 수상

2008년 인도 과학아카데미 회원으로 선출되었다.[12] 2011년, 그는 농업 발전에 기여한 공로로 인포시스 과학 연맹으로부터 생명 과학 부문에서 인포시스 상을 받았다.[13] 같은 해에는 인도국립과학아카데미[14] 펠로로도 선출되었다.
