하비 푸트남(Harvey Putnam, 1793년 1월 5일 ~ 1855년 9월 20일)은 미국의 변호사 및 정치인이었다.미국 하원에서 휘그(Whig) 의원을 지냈으며, 뉴욕 상원에서 근무했다.
초년기
푸트남은 버몬트주 윈덤 카운티의 브랫틀보로에서 아사 푸트남과 안나(콜린스) 푸트남의 9남매 중 막내로 태어났다.[1]그의 아버지는 그가 아기였을 때 돌아가셨고, 그는 그의 어머니와 함께 매사추세츠주 윌리엄스타운에 친척들과 함께 살았고, 후에 뉴욕주 코블스킬에 친척들과 함께 살았다.[2][3][4]
그는 보통 학교에 다녔고 뉴욕주 스카네텔레스에서 법을 공부하며 교직에 종사했다.1816년 변호사 자격을 얻어 1817년 뉴욕 아티카에서 법 집행을 시작했다.[5]
정치 경력
그는 정치에 관여하게 되었고 아티카에서 여러 관직을 역임하였다. 그는 1838년 11월 7일부터 1839년 3월 3일까지 재임하던 윌리엄 패터슨의 죽음으로 인한 빈자리를 메우기 위해 제25대 미국 의회에 Whig로 선출되었다.[6]
푸트남은 1840년 제네세 현의 대리인으로 임명되었는데, 그가 군을 분할할 때까지의 집무실이었다.[7]그 후 와이오밍 현의 대리인으로 임명되어 1843년까지 재임하였다.[8]
그는 1843년부터 1846년까지 뉴욕주 상원의원(제8구역) 소속으로 66, 67, 68, 69대 국회의원에 재직했다.[9]
그는 1847년 3월 4일부터 1851년 3월 3일까지 열린 제30대 및 31대 미국 의회에 Whig로 선출되었다.[10]그는 의회를 떠난 후 법률의 관행을 재개했다.
푸트남은 1855년 9월 20일 아티카에서 사망했으며, 뉴욕 우티카의 포레스트 힐 묘지에 안치되어 있다.[1]
가정생활
푸트남은 1817년 8월 5일 미라(오즈번) 푸트남과 결혼했다.[2]그들의 아들은 제임스 O였다. 뉴욕주 상원의원 겸 벨기에 주재 미국 장관인 푸트남.[4][11]
