Boston Landmark

보스턴 랜드마크(Boston Landmark)는 뉴잉글랜드나 미국에 역사적, 사회적, 문화적, 건축적 또는 심미적 의미가 있다는 이유로 보스턴 시 전역의 역사적 건물과 부지를 보스턴 랜드마크 위원회가 지정하는 것이다. 국가 랜드마크 또는 국가 레지스터 지위는 소득을 창출하는 재산의 소유자에게 세금 혜택을 제공할 수 있지만, 지역 랜드마크 지위는 지정된 역사적 구조물이나 장소에 대한 변경에 대한 더 많은 통제권을 제공한다.[1]

기준

한 단체가 지정 절차를 시작하기 위해, 그들은 우선 보스턴 랜드마크 위원회 직원들과 만나 청원 절차를 논의한다. 전체 청원이 제출되면 위원회가 추가 연구를 위한 청원을 받아들일지 여부를 결정하기 위한 예비 심리가 예정되어 있다. 위원회가 청원을 수락할 경우, 건물 또는 부지는 보류 중인 랜드마크 목록에 추가된다. 제안된 랜드마크에 대한 연구 보고서 작성은 다음 단계다. 연구 보고서 초안을 발표하기 위한 공청회가 이어진다. 보스톤 랜드마크로 지정되기 위해서는 위원회의 2/3 과반수 찬성이 필요하다. 그 결정은 보스턴 시장과 보스턴 시의회에 의해 확인되어야 한다. 보스턴 랜드마크 위원회는 해당 부동산이 랜드마크 상태에 적합한지 여부를 판단한다.

  1. 문화, 정치, 경제, 군사 또는 사회 역사의 어떤 중요한 측면을 대표하는 장소인가?
  2. 뛰어난 역사적 인물과 상당한 연관성이 있는 현장이다.
  3. 영향력 있는 건축가, 조경가, 디자이너 또는 건축가의 주목할 만한 작품임
  4. 시공 또는 개발의 기간, 스타일 또는 방법의 특색 있는 설계 구성요소를 나타낸다.

일단 지정되면, 제안된 변경사항은 보스턴 랜드마크 위원회의 검토와 승인을 받아야 한다.[2]

최근 지정

2016년 한 커미셔너는 660비컨스트리트의 지원 건물이 보스턴 대학교에서 매각 작업을 진행하던 당시 켄모어 광장 위에 있는 시트고 간판을 지정해 달라는 탄원서를 보스턴 랜드마크 위원회에 제출했다. 청원이 받아들여졌고 표지판은 보류 중인 랜드마크로 연구보고서 연구가 진행 중이다.[3]

2016년 2건의 관련 없는 지정 이후 2018년 7월 현재 미결 명소가 승인되지 않았다. 1980년대 이후로 많은 사이트들이 미결 상태로 남아있다.[4]
