바나라스 힌두대 여성인권시위는 2017년 9월 바나라스 힌두대 학생의 대학 행정부에서 여성을 부당하게 대우한다는 불만을 시작으로 일련의 사건이다.

괴롭힘 사건

2017년 9월 21일 한 여성이 대학 측에 성희롱을 신고했다.[1] 그녀는 대학 측이 자신을 비난하며 대응했다고 주장했다.[1]

항의

다음날인 9월 22일, 학생들은 대학의 여성 대우에 대한 시위를 조직했다.[1]

그 대학 행정부는 수백 명의 학생들을 상대로 첫 번째 정보 보고서를 제출했다.[2]

보안관들은 시위자들이 해산하도록 하기 위해 폭력을 행사했다.[3][4] 각종 시위대가 부상 신고를 했다.[5]

베나레스에서의 시위는 델리에서의 시위를 촉발시켰다.[6]

시위 1주년 기념식에서 학생들은 또 다른 시위를 조직했다.[7] 시위대는 아킬 바라티야 비디야시 교구 학생단체가 항의시위를 이유로 폭력적으로 공격했다고 보도했다.[8]

반응

대학 측은 원고를 낸 여학생이 야간에 외출했다고 비판했다.[9]

2017년 9월 시위는 나렌드라 모디 총리의 방문 당시 발생했다는 점에서 더욱 주목을 받았다.[10]

모디는 주임장관과 대응책을 논의했다.[11]

우타르 프라데쉬의 요기 아 디트야나트 장관은 향후 그러한 시위를 막기 위한 방안으로 더 나은 의사소통을 권고했다.[12]

2018년 바나라스 힌두 대학교는 시위에 참가한 11명의 학생들을 실각시켰다.[13]
