애슈턴 스쿨(Ashton School)은 아일랜드 코크에 위치한 아일랜드의 남녀공학 중등학교다. 코르크 문법학교와 로셸학교의 합병에 따라 1972년에 설립되었다.[2] 2017년 현재 애쉬튼 스쿨은 500명 이상의 학생을 보유하고 있다.[1]

포메이션

'코크 문법 학교'는 아일랜드 교회 소년 문법 학교였다. 1881년에 설립되었으며, 원래 코크 시의 시드니 플레이스에 본사를 두고 있으며, "자녀를 영국에 보내어 교육시키고 있던" 부모들에게 대안을 제시하고자 하였다.[3] 이 학교는 결국 애쉬튼 하우스(블랙록 로드에 있는 19세기 대형 주택)[4]를 인수해 1956년 새 부지로 이전했다.[3]

'로셸 스쿨'은 주로 아일랜드 교회 여자 예비학교였다. 1829년에 설립되었으며, 원래 쿡 스트리트와 사우스 테라스에 본거지를 두고 있다가 1863년에 로셸 하우스(Blackrock로 가는 길에도 큰 집)로 이사하였다.[5]

코르크 문법 학교(소년; 1880년대-1970년대)와 로셸 학교(소녀; 1820년대-1970년대)는 1972년 합병할 때까지 별개의 학교로 운영되었다.[1] 새로 합병된 이 남녀공학 학교는 애쉬튼 하우스 부지를 차지했는데, 이 부지에서 현재의 이름이 따왔다. 로셸 하우스는 1999년에 팔리기 전에 일정 기간 동안 기숙사에 사용되었다.[6]

2013~2015년 사이 이 학교에는 추가 시설이 개발됐고, 그루지야 시대 최초의 건물도 새롭게 단장했다.[7][8][9]
