전방 뇌하수체에서 "산성 염료"라는 용어는 산성 염료로 잘 얼룩지는 두 종류의 세포를 묘사하기 위해 사용된다.

표준 얼룩 기술을 사용할 때는 서로 구별할 수 없으므로(기초포와 색소포와 구별할 수 있지만),[1] 따라서 간단히 "산소포일"로 식별된다.
