인구통계학적 특성 2020년 미국 인구조사 를 기준으로 이 지역의 인구는 221,840명으로 이 중 175,200명(79.0%)이 투표연령이다.The racial makeup of the district was 164,132 (74.0%) White , 22,489 (10.1%) African American , 541 (0.2%) Native American , 9,191 (4.1%) Asian , 141 (0.1%) Pacific Islander , 7,333 (3.3%) from some other race , and 18,013 (8.1%) from two or more races.[2] [3] 어느 민족 이든 히스패닉계나 라틴계 인구는 20,055명(9.0%)이었다.[4]

정치 대표 2022~2023년 세션 에서는 장 스탠필드 (R , Westampton )가 뉴저지 상원 , 마이클 토리스시 (R, Hammonton )와 브랜든 움바 (R, Medford )가 이 지역을 대표한다.[6]
입법지구는 뉴저지 제1 ·2 ·3의회 선거구와 겹친다.
1965–1973 1964년 레이놀즈 대 심스 에서 대법원 의 판결 이후와 1973년 40개 구역의 입법부가 설립되기 전, 제8구역은 서머셋 군 전체 를 포괄했다.[7] [8] [9] 이 기간(1965년, 1967년, 1971년)에 치러진 세 차례의 상원 선거 동안 공화당은 세 번의 경선에서 모두 승리했다. 현직 상원의원인 윌리엄 E. 오자드는 1965년[10] 2년 임기(67년 7월 10일 사임함)로 재선에 성공했고, 다음 두 번의 선거에서는 레이먼드 베이트만 이 두 선거에서 모두 승리했다.[7] [11] [12]
1967년부터 1973년까지의 기간으로 제8구는 2명의 의원을 총회에 파견했다. 2년 임기의 모든 선거에서 공화당이 두 의석을 모두 차지했다. 존 H. 유잉 은 세 번의 정기 선거(1967, 1969, 1971)에서 한 명의 승리자였고, 웹스터 B. 토드 주니어( 웹스터 B 의 아들) 크리스틴 토드 휘트먼 (Christine Todd Whitman)의 동생인 토드는 1968년부터 1970년까지 한 차례 임기를 마치고, 밀리센트 펜윅 은 1969년과 1971년에 선출되었으나 1972년 12월 14일에 사임하여 뉴저지 소비자 담당 부서장으로 취임하였고, 빅토르 A. 리졸 로는 1973년 1월 30일 특별 선거에서 당선되어 임기를 마쳤다.[11] [13] [12] [14] [15]
1973년 이후 지역 구성 주 전역에 걸쳐 40개의 평등한 인구 지구로 입법부가 전환되었을 때 1973년 선거를 위해 만들어진 제8지구는 벌링턴, 오션 , 몬머스 , 머서 카운티의 불균형 지구였다. 키스 라인 을 중심으로 메드포드 타운쉽, 맨체스터 타운쉽 , 플로렌스 타운쉽 , 루즈벨트 , 이스트 윈저 타운쉽 , 로렌스 타운쉽 에 지점이 있었다.[16] 1980년대에 8번째는 워싱턴 타운쉽 에서 보든타운 에 이르는 벌링턴 카운티의 대부분을 포함하게 되었다.[17] 1990년 인구조사 에 따라 이 구는 벌링턴 군에서 캠던 군(윈슬로우 타운쉽 , 워터포드 타운쉽, 체실허스트 )과 애틀랜틱 군(햄몬턴, 폴섬 )으로 확대되었고, 메드포드, 에브스햄, 무어스타운 , 로렐 산, 사우샘프턴 등 벌링턴 군 지역이 포함되어 있다.[18] 2001년 선거구 조정은 그 지역을 다시 벌링턴으로 되돌렸다.[19]
