7 세티는 적도 별자리의 단일 변수 항성이다.[10]그것은 가변 항성 명칭인 AE Ceti를 가지고 있다.[1]이 별은 4.44의 기준 외관상으로 육안으로 볼 수 있다.[3]겨우 7.3마스의 연간 시차 변화를 바탕으로 약 450광년 떨어진 곳에 위치해 있다.[2]그것은 -23 km/s의 태양 중심 방사상 속도로 태양 가까이 이동하고 있다.[6]에겐(1965)은 이를 울프 630의 공동 움직이는 스타 그룹의 유력한 멤버로 꼽았다.[11]
이것은 M1 III의 별 분류를 가진 노쇠한 적색 거성으로,[5] 현재 점증하지 않는 거성에 있다.[12]Samus 외 연구진(2017)은 LB: 유형의 느린 불규칙 변수로 분류되었으며, 크기는 4.26에서 4.46까지 다양하다.[4]타부르 외(2009) 이 값을 19.2일에서 41.7일 사이의 네 가지 알려진 주기를 가진 반정형 변수로 나열한다.[1]7 Ceti의 눈부신 대기는 태양 반지름의 약 54배까지[7] 확대되었다.그것은 3,800K의 유효 온도에서 확대된 광권으로부터 태양 광도의 약 1,019배를[8] 방출하고 있다.[8]
