50 칸크리는 암의 십이지 별자리에 있는 단일[9] 항성으로, 태양으로부터 183광년 떨어져 있다.[1]Bayer 명칭 A2 Cancri를 가지고 있으며, 50 Cancri는 Flamsteed 명칭이다.육안으로는 시력 5.89로 보이는 백색 별처럼 희미하게 보인다.[2]이 별은 약 120만년 전 118광년 내에 도달한 23km/s의 태양 중심 방사 속도로 지구로부터 멀어지고 있다.[2]
이것은 화학적으로 특이한 A형 주계열성으로 A1 Vp의 별 분류를 한다.[3]이 별은 강하게 고갈된 철봉과 알파 공정 원소들을 보여주는 람다 보외티스 별이지만, 그렇지 않으면 비교적 정상적인 태양열을 가진 별이다.[5]그 별은 1.6 밀리미터의 검출 한계까지 변동성을 보이지 않는다.[10]이것은 2억 6천[6] 4백만 년 전의 것으로 18 km/s의 비교적 낮은 회전 속도를 가지고 있다.[7] 50 칸크리는 태양의 2.1배 질량을[5] 가지고 있고 8,340 K의 유효 온도로 그것의 광구에서 태양 광도의 11배를[5] 방출하고 있다.[5]
