Xsun은 Sun Microsystems가 개발한 Solaris에 포함된 X Window System(X11) 디스플레이 서버 구현이다.X11 애플리케이션뿐만 아니라 NeWS, SunView 프로그램 등의 디스플레이를 지원하던 구형 Xnews 서버를 대체했다.Xsun은 이러한 레거시 환경에 대한 지원을 중단하고 Display PostScript에 대한 지원을 추가했다.
Xsun은 1993년 11월 Solaris 2.3의 일부로 처음 출시되었다.그것은 원래 X11R5에 기반했다; Solaris 10에 포함된 버전은 X11R6.6에 기반한다.
Solaris 10은 Xsun과 X를 모두 포함한다.X11R7에 근거한 X의 오픈 소스 소프트웨어 참조 구현인 Org Server, Xorg.Xorg 서버는 x86 시스템에서 가장 일반적으로 사용되는 디스플레이 서버인 반면, Xsun 서버는 SPARC 시스템에서 가장 일반적으로 사용되는 서버였다. 디자인
XFree86과 대조적으로 Xsun은 일부 그래픽 장치 드라이버에 커널 기반 모드 설정을 구현했다.

We've been working to migrate all of the existing libraries and clients to build from this source base as well for future Solaris releases, and have almost finished that now.

While Oracle Solaris 10 includes both the Xsun family of X servers, with Xsun as the default on SPARC platforms, and Xorg as the default on x86 platforms, Oracle Solaris 11 only supports the Xorg family of servers.
