워싱턴 주 노동부(Washington State Department of L&I)는 워싱턴 주 정부의 노동 기준을 규제하고 강제하는 부서다. 그 기관은 주의 근로자 보상 제도를 관리하고, 작업장 검사를 실시하고, 무역 노동자를 면허 및 인증하며, 중장비에 대한 허가를 발급한다.[1]
역사
노동 산업부는 1921년 산업 보험, 근로자 안전, 산업 관계를 감독하는 주 입법부의 법률에 의해 만들어졌다.[2][3] 새로운 기관은 1901년에 작업장을 검사하기 위해 만들어진 노동국과 노동자의 건강, 안전, 보험 청구에 대한 감시와 위원회를 대체했다.[4]
1973년 주 의회는 워싱턴 산업안전보건법을 통과시켰는데, 이 법은 연방산업안전보건법(OSHA)을 대체하고 L&I가 고용주를 조사하고 주 및 연방 노동법을 집행할 수 있도록 했다.[4][5] 워싱턴은 1976년 OSHA로부터 완전한 승인을 받은 그들 자신의 노동법을 시행한 최초의 주 중 하나가 되었다.[4]
구조
엘앤아이(L&I)는 2015~2025년 임기 동안 27억달러의 예산을 갖고 있으며 2891명을 고용했다.[6] 이 부서는 산업안전보건부, 근로자보상부, 현장 및 공공안전부, 사기예방 및 근로기준부 등 여러 부서로 나뉜다.[7] 그 부서의 국장은 주지사가 임명하고 집행내각에서 근무한다.[8]

L&I는 텀워터 본사 외에도 주 전역 19개 도시에 사무실을 두고 있다.[9]
