덴게루는 탄자니아 북부 아루샤 지역에 있는 시장[1] 도시다.둘루티 호수를 둘러싸고 있는 그레이트 리프트 계곡 동쪽 가장자리에 있는 메루 산 아래에 위치한 텐게루는 온화한 기후를 가지고 있다.그 도시는 아루샤 시에서 동쪽으로 13킬로미터 떨어져 있다.[2]

역사

1934년 미국인 투자자 케년 페인터(Kenyon Purtist)가 텐제루에 커피 연구소를 설립했는데,[3] 오늘날에는 탄자니아 농업부의 랴문구 연구소가 운영하고 있으며, 국립 커피 연구 센터로 알려져 있다.[4]

1942년에 시작하여 제2차 세계 대전 이후 계속되면서 둘루티 호수 바로 남쪽의 텐게루에는 중유럽과 동유럽 출신의 실향민들을 위한 캠프가 설립되었다.폴란드는 주로 미국, 호주, 북유럽 및 기타 국가에서 정착한 폴란드인들을 수용했다.전성기에는 4,000명이 넘는 사람들을 수용했지만, 이제 캠프에 남아 있는 것은 커다란 공동묘지뿐이다.[1][5][6][7][self-published source]내국인들에 의해 운영되던 젖소와 육우 농장은 1952년 농림부에 인수되어 텐게루 원예연구훈련원(HOTI)이 되었다.[8]
