피블스는 스테이지 스토어가 소유하고 텍사스 주 휴스턴에 본사를 둔 미국의 백화점 체인이었다.

역사
피블스는 1891년 버지니아주 로렌스빌에 첫 매장을 연 윌리엄 스미스 피블스에 의해 설립되었다.
이 가족은 1986년 이 회사를 두 개의 투자 은행과 피블스의 고위 경영진에게 8500만 달러에 팔았다. 2003년 미국 버지니아주 사우스힐에 본사를 둔 스테이지 스토어스가 피블스를 인수하기 전까지 두 차례나 팔린 바 있다. 당시 피블스는 대서양 중부와 남동부, 중서부에 125개 이상의 점포를 갖고 있었다.[2]
수십 년간의 확장 끝에 피블스는 1988년 9월 내슈빌에 본사를 둔 고급 하비 백화점 체인을 인수해 피블스로 이름을 바꾸었다.[3]
1998년 피블스는 비슷한 체인점인 왓슨을 구입했고, 후에 왓슨의 모든 가게의 이름을 피블스로 바꾸었다.
휴스턴에 본사를 둔 스테이지 스토어스는 2003년 피블스를 현금 1억6700만 달러, 부채 4690만 달러에 매입했다.[4][5] 2019년 8월 스테이지스토어스가 운영하는 다른 모든 점포와 함께 모든 피블스 매장이 고르드만 매장으로 전환될 것이라는 발표가 있었다.[6][7]
2020년 5월 10일 스테이지사는 11장 파산을 신청했으며, 체인에 대한 구매자를 찾을 수 없는 한 피블스와 고르드먼을 포함한 모든 지역을 청산하겠다고 발표했다.[8] 구매자는 발견되지 않았고, 모든 장소에서 폐업 판매가 시작되었다.[9]
