Metal Shark Boats는 루이지애나 주 제네레트와 프랭클린에서 조선소를 운영하는 알루미늄 훌 선박의 개발자 겸 건조업자다.[1] 그것은 상업적 운송에서 전문화된 법 집행 기관과 군사 애플리케이션에 이르는 다양한 선박을 제공한다.

메탈 샤크는 미국의 카리브해 이웃 국가들에게 주어질 계획인 미국 해군의 감독하에 13척의 디펜던트급 경비함정을 건조하는 5,400만 달러의 계약을 따냈다.[8][9][10] 선박 등급은 다멘 스탠 2606 설계에 기초한다. 이는 미국 해안 경비대의 매우 성공적인 해양 보호기 등급인 절단기에 사용된 라이벌 볼링거 조선소 근처에서 사용된 것과 같은 설계다.[11]
